How secure are the main frameworks for app development?

The evolution of mobile apps is continuous and is often driven by the need to quickly bring solutions to market on as many platforms as possible. The choice of development framework is strategic and affects every phase of the project. However, in many cases, the discussion focuses on cost, speed and ‘saving’ lines of code, neglecting an aspect that today carries as much weight as, if not more than, all the others: cybersecurity.

An analysis of frameworks based on real data

In the new Mobisec white paper, we took things further. Rather than simply listing the pros and cons of each framework, we put them to the test. We tested Flutter, React Native, .NET MAUI and Ionic, testing the security level of real apps created with these frameworks using Mobisec’s DSA.

The results speak for themselves, revealing transversal vulnerabilities, framework-specific weaknesses and risks that do not show up in commercial presentations. In more than 80% of the analysed cases, critical issues relating to storage, the use of third-party libraries, encryption implementation and sensitive data management in memory were found. All of this is documented in the new, unfiltered white paper.

Security is part of the framework

New regulations and an increasing market focus on cybersecurity mean that choosing a framework is an even more delicate step today. Uncertainty about the security of a mobile app can today lead to compliance issues, reputational damage, and barriers to entry into new markets.

This white paper provides a detailed comparative analysis, a risk matrix and practical guidance for CTOs, POs and development managers who need to choose or re-evaluate their mobile app development strategies from a security perspective, as well as evidence from our tests.

A concrete, forward-looking approach

This insight is based on real experiences and independent analysis, rather than preconceived ideas. Our goal is to provide a useful tool for making choices that have technical, organisational and business implications.

Security is an integral part of mobile app quality.
Making an uninformed choice exposes you to risks. Conversely, choosing with the right data strengthens development projects.
