Mobisec Joins App Defense Alliance and OWASP It is the only Italian company invited to draft the rules of mobile cybersecurity.

They are two of the most important international organizations for app security.

OWASP is the international organization that defines standards for security testing, while the App Defense Alliance is a coalition of companies led by Google, Microsoft, and Meta, working together to make applications in the Android environment more secure.

Treviso, July 25, 2024Mobisec, a Treviso-based company specializing in mobile application cybersecurity, has received double international recognition. The first is its entry into the App Defense Alliance (ADA), an initiative launched by Google in 2019 to protect users from malicious apps. Now managed by the Linux Foundation, the Alliance is led by a steering committee that includes, in addition to Google, Microsoft and Meta. Among its members are prominent organizations such as McAfee and PWC.

As a member of the ADA, Mobisec gains access to information shared by all participating companies regarding emerging cyber threats, as well as best practices for mobile application security. This activity contributes to defining cybersecurity standards that app developers are expected to aim for when creating applications installed on smartphones worldwide.

The work carried out within the App Defense Alliance contributes to the development of the OWASP guidelines, the other organization that has welcomed Mobisec as a contributor. The Open Web Application Security Project, or OWASP, is an active community focused on the security of mobile apps, web apps, and APIs (application programming interfaces, which enable two different applications to interact with each other).

This organization has released and regularly updates the MASTG, which stands for Mobile Application Security Testing Guide. It is a document outlining the guidelines that security testing for apps must follow to effectively identify potential vulnerabilities. Mobisec’s penetration tests were already compliant with OWASP guidelines, ensuring that the security checks conducted on clients’ apps are robust. The fact that Mobisec contributes to writing these guidelines allows the company to share knowledge and expertise with the global application security community.

«This double achievement represents, first and foremost, an international recognition of the quality of the work carried out by our team», emphasizes Simone Rebeschini, CEO of Mobisec, «It is, of course, an additional guarantee for our clients regarding the quality and effectiveness of the tests we conduct on their applications, as well as our ability to identify the latest issues recognized by the international community of professionals in the mobile app cybersecurity sector».
